A Photo Journal: Images of Vintgar Gorge in Slovenia.  Click here for a 5 day itinerary encompassing the best of Central and Northern Slovenia.

Vintgar Gorge, located in the northwest region and just a few kilometers from Lake Bled, is one of the most visited natural attractions in Slovenia.   Wooden walkways and bridges have been constructed along the rocky passage. The trail runs through the 1600 meter long gorge with the Radovna River ending at the Šum waterfall, the highest river fall in Slovenia. After the waterfall, the trail rises back up to the chapel of St Catherine above Zasip. From here one of the finest views over Bled can be seen.

Vintgar Gorge is one of the most beautiful treks I’ve taken and Slovenia one of the most naturally beautiful countries I’ve visited.
